Germany can go forward with the EU’s 750 billion € corona reconstruction fund.

A decision by the Federal Constitutional Court clears the way in Germany for the EU’s financing system until 2027, including the € 750 billion Corona reconstruction fund. This is what the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reports in its online edition of April 21, 2021.

The Federal Constitutional Court rejected an urgent motion that was filed against the corresponding ratification law. However, a decision has not yet been made on the constitutional complaint itself (see Az. 2 BvR 547/21). The reason for the rejection of the urgent application states that “with a summary examination” a high probability of a constitutional violation could not be determined.

According to the FAZ, Commission President Ursula von der Leyen welcomed the decision. On her Twitter account she writes: “The EU remains on course for the economic recovery after this unprecedented pandemic.”
