Agreement in EU regional funding: Germany gets less.

After a tough struggle, white smoke rose from the EU Parliament: The trialogue negotiations on EU structural funding have been concluded. A reduction for well-developed regions is relevant for Germany.

EU Council approves structural funds

On Wednesday there was also an agreement in the council on the structural funds as a whole: the council approved the plans for the 400 billion euros over the next seven years.

“With today’s approval of our negotiation result, we are creating clarity and predictability for the countries and regions in Europe,” said German Minister of Economic Affairs Peter Altmaier (CDU). “We negotiated efficiently and were able to achieve results quickly because Parliament and the Council Presidency were aware of their great responsibility.” “That is a strong signal to strengthen cohesion and to overcome the Corona crisis,” said Altmaier.
