EFG and ECG were commissioned to implement ESF funds in the state of Berlin.

European regional policy has a special role to play in overcoming the corona crisis. One of the main instruments is REACT-EU, an increase in structural funds by 47.5 billion euros. Europe’s regions receive additional money to deal with the corona crisis.

REACT-EU stands for “Recovery Assistance for Cohesion and the Territories of Europe” and is an initiative with which the measures for crisis management and for the alleviation of the consequences of the crisis Investitionsinitiative zur Bewältigung der Coronavirus-Krise and the Investitionsinitiative Plus zur Bewältigung der Coronavirus-Krise to be continued and expanded. It will contribute to a green, digital and stable economic recovery.

The ESF in the state of Berlin also benefits from this. Berlin will receive an extra 50 million euros in ESF funds until 2023.

In order for these additional funds to be managed in accordance with the provisions of the EU regulations, the State of Berlin has commissioned the EFG and ECG to implement these funds in the functions of an entrusted trustee, an approval authority and an intermediary agency (ZGS).

Tasks of the ECG:

  • Database-supported implementation of all funding procedures (application, billing, payment, evaluation)
  • Adviser to administrative, certification and auditing authorities
  • Adviser to public bodies for EU, national and regional funding programs
  • Granting authority and auditor in compliance with EU and funding laws as well as contractual requirements
